# I got an Admiralty Ship Card in STO. Did I get a ship?

No, not from the card alone. An Admiralty Ship Card belongs to the Admiralty system. Some cards come from playable ships you own, while other cards exist only for Admiralty and do not unlock a ship you can fly.

## Playable ship and Admiralty card are not the same thing

## What does the card actually do?

### Admiralty cards are sent on assignments.

Each card has Engineering, Tactical and Science stats, plus any special ability listed on the card. You combine cards to meet an assignment's requirements, send them out, then collect the result when the assignment finishes.

Reusable cards normally enter maintenance after use. One-use Admiralty cards disappear once they have been used.

### Admiralty becomes available at level 52.

Once it unlocks, eligible ship cards on the character can be used in the Admiralty campaigns.
