TFO means Task Force Operation. It is STO's queued group content: choose a specific TFO or join a Random TFO, let matchmaking form the team, complete the objectives and receive the listed rewards.
Most standard TFOs are five-player activities, although some use larger teams. TFOs can include space combat, ground combat, objectives, timers and other mission mechanics.
Pick the exact TFO you want to play and wait for matchmaking to fill the required team.
Random TFOs help fill open queues and add a Random TFO reward. Normal, Advanced and Elite random queues exist; the eligible pool depends on the selected difficulty and queue rules.
Not every TFO is available at every difficulty.
