Ranks & Permissions
Contribution ranks, Armada Officer duties and every in-game rank permission.
Many fleets. One standard. One community.
A straightforward look at joining, taking part and how our supported fleets work together across Star Trek Online.
Which fleets use the shared rules, and what members can expect from them.
Whether you’re playing Federation or Klingon, supported fleets should feel familiar. Armada Officers help with everyday operations, leaving members free to enjoy STO.
Join freely, recruit others and take part in as much of the community as you choose.
Our fleets always welcome new members. You don’t need to be an officer to recruit. Invite friends, players you meet in STO, or bring along your other characters.
Request a Fleet Invite →You can spread your characters across different supported fleets and move them between fleets whenever you like.
Watch: How to invite your own alt →Play STO your way. Discord, group activities and events are there when you want them, not conditions of membership. Anyone who wants to become more involved is welcome.
Recruiting brings new members into our fleets, while slotting and filling fleet projects helps develop our fleet holdings.
Everyone can help by recruiting or contributing resources. Armada Officers help keep projects running and progressing across our supported fleets.
Some projects help develop fleet holdings towards their next level. Others replenish provisions, keeping fleet stores supplied with equipment and other items for members.
From R2 onwards, members can deposit supplies and withdraw resources within their daily limits. The banks are designed for everyday use, without members needing to ask an officer for ordinary withdrawals.
See Fleet Bank limits →Fleet descriptions, recruitment messages and messages of the day follow a consistent format, so important information is easy to find in any supported fleet.
Contribution earns member ranks. Serving as an Armada Officer is a separate appointment.
R1 is the starting rank. R2–R5 are earned through each character’s own fleet contributions. Qualifying promotions are applied during the regular 10-day cycle.
R6 Armada Officers support the whole Armada, not only their home fleet. Over time, they work towards having characters in every supported fleet. They welcome and recruit members, keep fleet projects and provisions moving, and help members wherever needed. The Ranks page explains the role and its limits.
R7 is the highest fleet rank. Flawless, Biebs and Morgen oversee -PTF- Armada as a whole, while each fleet retains its own recognised owner.
Fleet owners keep ownership of their fleets and can help with their day-to-day operation. Being a fleet owner does not automatically make someone part of -PTF- Senior Leadership.
Every supported fleet follows the same ranks, permissions and bank settings. This gives members a familiar experience wherever they play.
When problems arise, leadership considers the circumstances and handles them individually, without changing the rules for everyone.
There is no fixed inactivity cleanout. When a fleet needs room, leadership may review inactive R1–R4 characters, considering their rank, contributions and time away. It is a decision made when needed, not an automatic schedule.
R5 members are not removed simply for being inactive. Serious behaviour or security issues are handled separately.
For exact rank permissions or bank limits, the full settings are shown on their own pages.
